Valencia Property Owners Benefit from Grand Prix

The race is still nearly a year away but some of the city's grandest hotels are already fully booked, leaving late bookers to rent privately.

The Americas Cup was important to Valencia, increasing the number of tourists visiting the city and the number of visitors coming to Spain from the United States. However, for one weekend in 2008 Formula 1 is coming to Valencia, and the glamorous, big money sport is already having an impact on the city's economy. One of the reasons for the excitement is that this will be a street-based race, like the ever-popular Monaco Grand Prix, not one held on a dedicated race track.

Five of the city's most luxurious hotels - the Westin, Astoria, Las Arenas, Hesperia Parque Central and Barcelo Valencia - are already fully booked for the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of August. The race teams are all booked in, of course, and eager racing fans booked their hotels as soon as the dates of the Valencia Grand Prix were announced.

It's already being predicted that there will not be enough hotel beds in Valencia to accommodate all the visitors who wish to watch the Grand Prix. Owners of private rental properties in the city should be able to charge peak prices for accommodation on race weekend – although the temptation to enjoy a day watching one of the world's most prestigious sporting events, especially if their property is on the race route, will probably be immense!
