House-builder initiative helps local school

A school in Sheffield is set to benefit following an initiative set up by a local house-builder.

Antler Homes set pupils at Hallam Primary School the task of drawing their dream home; promising the school a £2 donation for every entry received. The house-builder is now to present the school with a £900 cheque as a result of the competition.

"The money raised from the competition will go towards improving classrooms in the infant department – we hope to make them more homely, creative spaces, with new furniture and items for role-play," commented the school's key stage one coordinator, Wendy Roberts.

Judging the competition and responsible for choosing a winner from each class was Louise Giles from Antler Homes' development at Barncliffe.

"The standard of entries from the pupils was really high and we may have found some budding architects," said Louise.

"Many had included elevation drawings and had applied a technical approach – it was very difficult to judge!"

Thirty of the entries were displayed in the show home of Antler Homes' Barncliffe development in Redmires Road, Sheffield over the bank holiday weekend, and will continue to be displayed on the walls until the end of May.

Barncliffe is a development offering four and five bedroom homes on the edge of the Peak District and opposite Hallamshire Golf Course.
