New training scheme to help private landlords in the north-east
Landlord Accreditation Scotland (LAS) has teamed up with Aberdeenshire Council to offer training sessions for residential landlords looking to build upon and maintain their property management skills.
The scheme has been set up to provide support for private landlords by offering information on best practice in order to enable them to operate to the highest standards, so that they themselves, and their tenants, can benefit.
Residential landlords across the north-east are being invited to book their place on the training sessions, the first of which will be held at Aberdeenshire Council's Woodhill House headquarters on January 27.
LAS is a national initiative for letting agents and landlords, with membership being free to individual landlords who are required to confirm that they meet the partnership's standards.
Letting agents and landlords must adhere to the 'Scottish Core Standards for Accredited Landlords' in order to become accredited. This relates to the physical condition of their properties as well as the management of their properties.
Accredited landlords can benefit from various services, including access to a network of trades which include gas engineers and electricians; discounted legal, insurance and accountancy services; and cut-price products from national furniture, furnishing and white goods suppliers.
The training sessions on January 27 will run in the afternoon and evening. Non-accredited landlords are required to pay a fee of £35, while accredited landlords must pay £25 to attend. Members of both the Scottish Association of Landlords (SAL) and the Scottish Rural Property and Business Association (SRPBA) who wish to book their place on the training session can do so for free.
Anyone looking to attend, can book their place by visiting www.landlordaccreditationscotland.com.
Places are said to be limited, and will subsequently be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
