Ricky Tomlinson’s Turkish Delight
TV star Ricky Tomlinson, famous for his role as Jim Royle in BBC sitcom, The Royle Family, is the latest celebrity to snap up property in the Apollon Holiday Village in Altinkum Turkey, following in the footsteps of boxing hero Joe Calzaghe who also bought on the development in 2006.
The Liverpudlian actor has purchased two apartments after falling for Turkey’s charms during a visit to the country
to collect an award on behalf of his friend, film director Ken Loach.
Ricky, who will be 70 next year, is planning to use the development as an idyllic base from which to write a children’s
book – an idea inspired by his three year old grandson, Louis, who he and his wife Rita dote on.
The star has spent £48,000 on an off-plan three bedroom penthouse, and another £48,000 on an apartment which is ready to
move into in the Apollon Holiday Village – a three phase resort which boasts an impressive array of planned onsite
facilities including swimming pools, restaurants, a water park, sauna, gymnasium, tennis court and Turkish bath.
Ricky is no stranger when it comes to property craftsmanship having worked as a plasterer before he shot to fame, and
is said to be “very impressed” with the high quality of the resort. It would appear the actor is not alone in his
observations with Phase one of the development completely selling out after completion in October last year. Phase
two is now due to be finished in October this year.
