Samantha Garrad, international sales consultant with Trojans estate agency, gives PropertyIndex.com the lowdown on Slovak Paradise ski apartments in the village of Mlynky in the Slovak Paradise National Park (Slovenski Raj).

"It’s not an exaggeration to say this development is situated in one of the most beautiful regions of Slovakia. This particular part of the Slovak Paradise National Park, Mlynky, was declared the first national park in Slovakia, making the views from the apartments simply stunning, mostly of coniferous woods," explains Miss Garrad.

"The area is accessible by road, train and air; with, the Poprad Airport and the Kosice Airport just a short drive away, both with international traffic. Indeed, tourists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Ukraine flock to the region, not least because there’s great potential for summer as well as winter activities."

The apartments are located just 1km from Slovak Paradise’s largest ski centre - one of the biggest in Slovakia. The High and Low Tatras are within an hour’s drive, so there’s the possibility to spend every day in a different ski centre.

"The winter facilities in Mlynky are fantastic, as are the summer facilities. Cycle‐tourism and water sports are popular during the warmer months, as is the nearby village of Dedinky which is a part of the so‐called Gothic trail," says Miss Garrad.

"Whether you decide to follow the tracks of history, explore the natural beauty of the area, take up a sporting activity, or simply kick back and relax, Slovak Paradise offers a vast number of alternatives. The Hnilec water reservoir is actually only 1 km from the Slovak Paradise apartments, offering the possibility of renting a boat or a pedalo, swimming, surfing or fishing."

Prices start at £50,000 for the apartments of which there are two types – one or two bedroom. The development is due for completion in 2008

"Construction is underway and the interiors of a majority of the apartments have already been finished. High quality finishes have been used throughout the development to comply with the luxury standards," explains Miss Garrad.

"The Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are still to be finished in the basement and an extra floor is to go on top of the block creating the luxurious 100m² duplex apartments."

Up to 90% finance (subject to status) is available upon completion of the development, with only a 10% deposit required upon the exchange of contracts. Rental guarantee schemes are also in place from 7% for the first three years.
