Why Murcia Costa Calida?

Casacalida Properties SL, a company specialising in overseas real estate, shines a light on why buyers are turning to Murcia Costa Calida...

Investment and lifestyle

The world health council has stated that the region is one of the healthiest places in the world to live. The city of Murcia has a historic centre which offers extensive shopping facilities, culture and a diverse cuisine.

The square in front of the cathedral is the heart of the city. The entire population of Murcia seems to occupy this square in the evening, filling the pavement cafés, tapas bars, bodegas and restaurants with enjoyable hustle and bustle so typical of Spanish cities.

Murcia has many shops and attractions, including hyper-modern outlets set in the brand new condominium which is part of the biggest shopping and leisure retail complex in Europe. In the heart of the city, you will also find traditional top-class Spanish shops selling articles such as hand-made shoes and bags.

In the year 825, the Moors established a settlement on the spot where Murcia is now located. Nowadays, there are plenty of historical buildings to be admired, including the casino, which is itself a museum. Murcia also boasts some of the best new golf complexes in Europe and an impressive infrastructure.

The Costa Calida coastline

The Costa Cálida adjoins two different seas, the Mar Menor (or small sea) and the Mediterranean. The coastline is situated in the province of Murcia, and is approximately 250 km in length. This coast begins in the north with the beach of El Mojón, beside the border of the province of Alicante, and ends in the south with the beach of La Carolina in Águilas, towards the border of Almería.

The Mar Menor

The Mar Menor is Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon, consisting of over 170 km2 of shallow water surrounded by the districts of Los Urrutias, El Carmolí, San Javier, Los Alcázares and La Manga, to name just a few.

On the shores of the Mar Menor there are a great number of traditional towns. Small intimate residential areas are starting to be built within these towns for people who look for a different way to spend time in the Spanish sun.

Adjacent to the Mar Menor are natural salt lakes where people come daily to apply the mud from the bed of the lakes to their bodies. They then cross the road and wash it off in the Mar Menor. The Spanish firmly believe that this process, which is especially popular with those who suffer from arthritis and muscular problems, relieves aches and pains. This theory is supported by many doctors and medical experts in Spain and indeed across Europe.
