&147;We had been looking for a house for a while when we stumbled across the conversion of the secondary school at Hatton. When we went in the show home (now #1) we fell in love with the gallery landing and the original fireplace. Originally we were going to buy the end property, at the time planned as a 1 bed, but were able to stretch ourselves enough to buy a 2 bed. By doing so we were fortunate enough to have one where the parquet floor was able to be left in place and that also had an original fireplace. Since buying the property, in March 1996, we had Sharps fitted wardrobes installed in 2000, and in 2004 installed double-glazing, but other than that have had to do little other than a small amount of decorating and maintenance.

Being set back from the road we have never had problems with noise from the main road. We've found Hatton to be a very good area, there is a nice community spirit. The local shops are generally well-stocked, and anything we can't find there can usually be found at the Tesco in Hilton. Our daughter isn't old enough for school so we can't comment on that, but by all accounts the schools are well thought of.

My fiancée lived in Manchester when we first met and, not being a driver, found the rail link in Hatton to be a life-saver. We've also been extremely fortunate with all of our neighbours, none have ever caused any problems. In fact, most are extremely friendly and we count them as good friends.&148;
