Property Details

In an elevated setting to the southern side of the River Stour on the Essex/Suffolk boundary and grounds extending to approx 10 acres (S.T.S) is this substantial Grade II listed detached residence which has scope for personal development

The property is divided into two separate wings by the carriage archway and could suit dual family occupation or families requiring separate annexe/staff accommodation

NOTE: Photograph shows the rear view of the property.

HISTORY:

Old Hall is the remaining section of the original Mistley Hall (The main Hall in Mistley) and dates back to the 1700's. At one stage the property was once owned by The Right Honourable Charles Manning Sutton, speaker of The House of Commons.

The current owners have lived at the property since 1974 and have since bred and trained some of the countries finest greyhounds but they are now closing down the business and the outbuildings used for this purpose provide potential for stabling/storage or recreational purposes.

LOCATION DETAILS:

From the A12 between Colchester and Ipswich, take the A120 towards Harwich and at the Horsley Cross roundabout (by the water tower) proceed towards Manningtree and Mistley until reaching the cross road junction at Mistley. Turn right towards Mistley and immediately on the right hand side Green Lane will be found. The road is a private un-adopted road with vehicular access only for the properties served by Green Lane. Continue along the lane for several hundred yards and when the road forks keep to the left and Old Hall will then be found about a further hundred yards along. A short way just beyond the property there is a footpath access down to Mistley Quay and the local station which links to Manningtree mainline station to Liverpool Street in just over an hour.

Mistley is a village and immediately adjoins Manningtree which is a delightful town (reputedly the smallest recorded town in the country) and both Manningtree and Mistley adjoin the coastal section of the River Stour which extends from Harwich. Also at Manningtree/Brantham the river Stour flows inland for over twenty miles from Sudbury and meanders nearby through Dedham and Flatford Mill (Constable country).
