Land in Sedella, Malaga
Features
bSedella/b is a small whitewashed town with a population of approximately 935 inhabitants. It lies, at 689 metres above sea level, in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda Mountains in a steep, mountainous area. Vineyards, almond and olive groves as well as some vegetable plantations on the terraces near town, are the principal sources of income. The area is irrigated by the river Rio de la Fuente and numerous small streams cascading down from the mountains. It is situated in a commanding position near the ruins of a medieval fort. Narrow winding streets lead the visitor to the church of San Andres in the higher part of the town near which there is a tower with Mudejar decorative artwork, still in a fairly good state of conservation.br/Of Arab origin the village and much of the adjacent land were presented to Don Diego Fernandez de Cordoba after the re-conquest in recognition of assistance given to the Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella. There are some tapas bars and restaurants, a weekly market and a daily supply of fresh meat, fish and vegetables. There is a bus service daily to the provincial capital Malaga. Similar to most towns in the area Sedella is on the perimeter of the Sierra Tejeda Wildlife Reserve, a nature lovers´ paradise with its interesting and varied flora and fauna.
