The location
The residence is only 1.8 km from the port and shops of Saint Cyprien, an attractive seaside town on the Mediterranean coast, boasting 342 days of sunshine a year and fine sandy beaches. The town has many amenities and attractions including restaurants, a pretty marina, boutiques and bars. Market days here are Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Saint Cyprien has origins dating back to the 12th century, and remains quintessentially French with quaint tree-lined streets, old buildings and a 13th century church. The Francois Desnoyer Museum houses paintings by many famous artists who were inspired by the outstanding beauty of the area (Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec...).
Activities
Aside from the golf course, in the area one can practise a variety of water sports- boating, sailing, scuba diving, kayaking, water skiing... there is also a go kart track, a water park, hike and cycle paths and horse riding. In winter, the ski slopes of the Pyrenees aren’t far away.
Local food and specialities
The food of the area is influenced by nearby Spain and Catalunya in particular. You will find cargolade (snails done the Catalan way) as a start, escalivada (grilled vegetables served with olive oil and salt) boles de picolat (Catalan meatballs) and for dessert touron (a puff pastry), rousquille( a biscuit with vanilla and lemon) and of course, Creme Catalan (Catalan version of crème brulee).
