The development
Superbly situated at the entrance of the charming Provencal village of Peyrolles, Terra Solea allies art de vivre and the architectural spirit of southern France. It combines the natural elegance of Provencal bastide facades and the pure design of contemporary residences. The ensemble is organised around a pleasant landscaped patio marrying trees and a variety of flowers. Every apartment is embellished with a large terrace and/or a private garden ensuring plenty of light and many moments of relaxation. The apartments also benefit from high calibre furnishings (high performance thermal insulation, towel warmers, spacious rooms...) with the advantage of a BBC construction- uniting comfort, responsibility and low energy consumption. For your security the residence is fenced and secured with a videophone system and front doors have 3-point locks.
The location
Surrounded by some of the prettiest sites of Provence including the Durance plain and the Luberon massif to the north and the Sainte Victoire Mountain to the south, Peyrolles is a charming village ideal for country living. It enjoys a privileged position on the communication route linking Haute Provence to the Pays d’Aix. Daily life goes at a gently pace, with a twice-weekly market, numerous shops and amenities, 3 restaurants as well as a historical and cultural heritage to match any town. From its rocky position, the village dominates the river-plain which has been fought-over for centuries. Peyrolles, formerly a fortified medieval village, still possesses a beautiful chateau, now the town hall, as well as the Saint-Pierre church, the 12th century Chapelle Notre Dame d’Astors, oratories, fountains and a waterfall.
Activities
There are plenty of opportunities for discovering the natural and historic heritage thanks to the “sentier de decouverte du Loubatas”, a sign-posted walking track which crosses a lovely forest. Also on offer is swimming at the nearby pleasure lake, boules, tennis, fishing, rallies and exhibitions of antique cars, flea markets, fetes and theatre productions.
Local food and specialities
Fresh fruit and vegetables are plentiful here, as are olives and olive oil. Dishes include bouillabaisse and bourride (fish dishes), fougasse (Provencal bread), the tian gratin (a vegetable bake). To drink it has to be pastis (aniseed liqueur), gambette (fig cordial) and of course wines from the Bouches du Rhone vineyards.
