Local food and gastronomy
A plethora of food and drink define Normandy- fish and seafood is of a superior quality and includes oysters, lobsters, turbot, mussels and scallops. A wide range of dairy food is also produced such as butter, cream and celebrated cheeses like Camembert, Pont-l’Eveque and Livarot. Some of the local specialities are Caen style tripe, andouilles de Vire (chitterlings), oysters in pommeau (apple liqueur), teurgoule rice pudding, apple tart and caramels from Isigny and Etretat. Normandy is also a major cider-producing region.
