We are delighted to offer clients this rare find; a traditional French farmhouse located in the centre of the market town of Chabris (pop. 2,000). It offers all of the character of a country home with the convenience of living just a short stroll away from the heart of the village. Behind the gate off a quiet street, the first building is a large (nearly 50 sq.m.) garage or barn, ideal for storage or a workshop, with electricity connected. Further down the gravel drive we come to a little stone storage building before the space opens up as we arrive in the courtyard in front of the house. The principle building is in the form of a longere 26m long and 6.5m wide, under a red tiled roof in good condition; there are other small buildings both attached and detached from the main one. Entering the house we find the current accommodation: two bedrooms (10sq.m. and 18 sq.m.) a w.c. and a bathroom. The living room is 6.15 x 3.6m and contains a wood burning fire. The kitchen, which is in need of a refit, is off this room and has a door leading outside via a little greenhouse / porch. Two further large spaces, each over 40sq.m, are accessed from the courtyard but openings could be installed to make them part of the main living accommodation. In addition the whole or part of the loft space could be converted and one of two adjoining stone sheds has been turned into a bedroom for summer guests. Some very useful improvements have already been made: double glazing, electrics and plumbing, while further work would create a delightful house. Behind the building is a good-sized garden (26 x 17m) which could be the heart of this new home. Chabris itself is a delightful traditional village which we have made our home. It has with all the services you could require, complete with its Saturady morning market, library and sports facilities. There are doctors, dentists, a vet and a large supermarket, but still plenty of local shops. On the River Cher and surrounded by farmland and woods, there are several major towns within an hours drive and Paris is just 2-3 hours away by motorway or train. A solid, traditional, detached building so close to the centre does not come up every day. Visit soon while it is still available.
