Alleghe
Alleghe is an ski resort a few kilometres south of the Marmolada, in the narrow Agordo Valley, on the lake's shores lies the town of Alleghe overlooked by the imposing massif of Civetta. Alleghe is little gem of the Italian Dolomites - a renowned tourist resort, one of the favourite destinations of mountain lovers, with 80km of slopes varied enough to please most tastes. Alleghe rises on a rocky spur extending over the Alleghe lake which was formed in 1771 by a landslide from the adjacent Mount Piz. The most popular activities in Alleghe are mountain climbing, and skiing. Monte Civetta, Alleghe's tallest peak, is a noted climbing spot, rising to a height of 3220 meters tall. In addition, the lake in Alleghe is a popular destination for ice skaters and ice hockey players in the winter. There are 21km of downhill skiing, with 20 individual pistes, served by 8 ski lifts. With skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally reliable. The 8 Ski Lifts of Alleghe are able to uplift 7,000 skiers / snowboarders per hour. There are three airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Alleghe are perfectly feasible.
