The HARAS is situated in an abbey which was founded by monks of the Benedictine order in the 8th Century. The original abbey was destroyed and rebuilt in the 10th Century on the present site. Between the 12th Century and the time of the French Revolution, the monastery was inhabited and developed by Monks of Premontra's order. Since the revolution the estate has remained in private ownership and the existing Haras was established in 1941.
The 16th century “portique” with iron gates opens onto a formal courtyard. This “Court of Honour” is enclosed by the main buildings and corniced by four towers.
The main entrance opens onto a magnificent entrance hall with stone staircase and wrought iron balustrade.
This opens out onto a large reception room (70m2) with marble regency fireplace and ornate brass insert finely worked with a design of cornucopias
The floor is laid with large flagstones. This room opens onto a second reception (3Om2) and this, in turn leads through to the sitting room and dining room which communicate through sliding doors. The kitchen is situated in the South wing along with the utility rooms.
These rooms open out onto a well established wooded park of 5 ha which wraps around the house. To the rear of the entrance hall lays the original cloisters which run 40 m along the back of the main house down to the old abbey.
