The house is entered up some quite grand steps and into a large hallway with real wooden floors. There are 3 large rooms off this, all wood floors and good double glazed period windows. The views are just lovely - this is no flat, dusty, treeless plain - instead there are gorgeous green hills and forests as far as the eye can see.....

Downstairs is a similar layout, without the high ceilings, but here they are old oak and with big thick traditional stone walls. There is plenty of lovely old furniture and treasures left behind to do with what you will. Electricity is working now and water is supplied to the house.

The house has benefitted from extensive recent work by the conscientious owner. The roof has been replaced, as has the guttering and upstairs has been re-glazed (thankfully keeping the wonderful period windows), beautifully painted in all the upstairs rooms, re-rendered the entire house, floors treated - in short, lots of the hard work done. Belentsi itself.... Is a village of about 800+ people situated 12km from Yablanitsa, Roman and Lukovit at the edge of the Stara Planina mountain range. Being at the edge gives you many options for day-trips into very different terrains, from high-mountains to rolling hills, mature forests, large rivers and a reservoir and cliffs and caves.....plenty to do - you and your guests won`t be bored here ;)

The village has a church in the process of being restored, half a dozen shops or so, a café and a couple of bars and a post office. We know the mayor who, along with her husband is very active and keen to get things happening. Improvements to the roads, bridges and they had even organized an exhibition in the town hall of herbs and mushrooms that can be found in the area!

Many of the top 100 Sights of Bulgaria are in the region and the village is in the middle of a triangle of some of the most spectacular monasteries of the country. There are many museums and market towns, historical centres, medieval rock churches and mountain huts for serious climbers. As you might imagine, wildlife is very rich in this area, with great bio-diversity.

On a different note, Sofia is just over an hour`s drive away down a largely deserted motorway. This means that prices are steadily rising as the increasing affluence of the Sofians means they are increasingly looking to buy near the capital, in villages with fresh air and traditional charm. It also means that a proper Balkan capital city is available to you, not just for admin stuff, but also renowned Opera and music, a lively, cosmopolitan bar scene, plus numerous events in English and Bulgarian.

Belentsi is 12km from Yablanitsa, Lukovit and Roman, with bus, road and rail links to the capital and the year-round Sofia airport. No need to get caught in traffic either, as the airport is next to the motorway which leads in this direction! With the budget airlines flying to Sofia, the region is perhaps the most accessible and useable in Bulgaria, not to mention one of the most beautiful.......
