The historic village of Gavalohori has a population of around 350 residents and is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful villages in the area. With its beautifully restored stone homes and its sleepy atmosphere, Gavalohori can be deceiving, because it is in fact full of activity and is an ideal location for those seeking to live in a vibrant traditional Greek village with facilities open all year round and the village square is still very much the focal point of village life.
The village has many shops including two taverns, two cafes, a pastry shop with cafe bar, the village pre-school, a graphic design Studio, bakery, three grocery stores and a handicrafts shop. There are numerous Greek Orthodox churches in and around the village as well as Venetian arches and wells, Roman tombs and an ancient olive oil factory. Many interesting walks exist around the village.
