Location

Santa Clara-a-Velha is located inbetween the monchique mountains the Santa Clara Lake & the west coast beaches of southern Portugal. The climate is Hot & Sunny in the summer with colder nights in the winter though the days are usually extremly sunny & warm. The rains usually only fall in the winter months though for the last couple of years we have had some welcome light rain apx. once a month throughout the summer ( looks like Global warming is doing Portugal some favours!) This region is amongst the most beautiful in Portugal so has a 'Pousada' overlooking the lake (State Built Hotel- which were built in the most spectacular sites of the country).

Golf, Horse riding, Tennis etc are all available on the Algarve ( An hours drive) Also on the west coast ( Half hour in the car) It is possible to kep your own boat on the lake for boating, fishing, water skiing, sailing etc
