Residential Complex The five star residential complex of the Vilamoura Golf & Garden Resort is set close to all of Oceânico's five Vilamoura golf courses, closest to the Oceânico Pinhal course, and just 5 minutes drive from both the beach and the central marina area. The stunning architecture will be designed along a Moorish theme to reflect local influences. The luxury properties will offer spacious living in a mix of two and three-bedroom apartments with communal pools, and four & five bedroom detached villas all with private pools. The Gardens The central feature of this resort will be the stunning landscaped gardens, carefully crafted by celebrity landscape designer Diarmuid Gavin. Diarmuid is the most imaginative and inspirational garden designer working in Britain today, and we are delighted that he is bringing his unique style to Portugal in creating the setting for our fantastic resort. The gardens will be both luxurious and relaxing and will fully reflect the Moorish theme of the resort. They will combine vibrant colourful arid planting suitable for the climate of the Algarve, with lakes and pools and tranquil walkways and an abundance of secluded Moroccan-style pavilions throughout the site will create private outdoor retreats. The Facilities The facilities and amenities at Vilamoura Golf & Garden resort will comprise: Restaurants Bar Gym Outdoor swimming pool Children's play areas Kids Club Convenience store The Oceânico Vilamoura Golf Courses In March 2007 the Oceânico Group acquired 5 of the world renowned golf courses of Vilamoura - Oceânico Victoria, where the Portugal Masters will be held 2007 - 2009; The Oceânico Old Course; Oceânico Pinhal; Oceânico Millennium; and Oceânico Laguna. Oceânico Victoria Clube de Golfe, designed by Arnold Palmer, was recently named Best Portuguese Golf Course 2006 in the annual Publituris Awards, voted best by the readers of Publituris Magazine and an independent jury of tourism professionals. The Oceânico Old Course, a parkland style par-73 layout, is one of the oldest in the region, having opened in 1969, and is renowned all over the golfing world. Oceânico Pinhal was the second golf course built in Vilamoura and inaugurated in 1976. It is typified by rolling parkland terrain covered with numerous umbrella and Atlantic pines that line many of the fairways and a few even stand out on fairways or near greens. Oceânico Laguna. Opened in 1990 and laid out over low-lying coastal terrain, this course, with its many water hazards and few trees, is considerably different from the other ones at the resort and many of its holes convey a links atmosphere. Oceânico Millennium. This conventional par-72 course opened in 2000, although the completely refurbished back nine holes - formerly part of the 27-hole Laguna course - had been completed in their original configuration a decade before. Location - Vilamoura Vilamoura itself offers all the facilities and amenities of a modern holiday destination. Its reputation as a renowned golfing destination is recognized the world over, yet aside from this it has so much more to offer. Vilamoura is built around Portugal's largest leisure marina, an award-winning home to over 1,000 impressive private yachts and power boats, and lined with shops, restaurants and cafes. Close to the marina are carefully preserved Roman ruins that were unearthed during construction work in the 1960s. For the sports enthusiast, besides the golf, there is a lawn bowling club, tennis centre, riding school, and even clay pigeon shooting. There is also an impressive string of sandy beaches with all the water sports you could wish for and big game fishing is very popular. There are restaurants to cater for every taste, and at night the resort comes alive with bars, discos and clubs offering live entertainment across the spectrum.
