The Yucatan state is the landmass that juts out into the ocean and is known as The Yucatan Peninsula. Yucatan has a tropical climate with average temperatures in winter (Dec-Feb) of 25-30 degrees celsius and average temperatures in summer (Jul-Aug) are 30-35 degrees.Historically home to the Ancient Mayan people there are many preserved sites to visit including spectacular Mayan pyramids. The Mayan descendents are exceptionally warm and friendly and the area records practically zero crime. The area is experiencing a property boom due to the large number of US and Canadian second home buyers (dubbed “Snow Birds” due to their mass migration each winter to warmer climes) who are choosing the relaxed atmosphere and Caribbean turquoise seas over the busy Floridian suburbs. With ownership laws now relaxed and an emphasis in encouraging overseas investors, some US real estate experts are comparing the region to Miami 30 years ago. Mexico is also long recognised as a short break destination for North Americans being only 2 hours from Houston and 4 hours from LA, but has now earned a new “Chic” reputation. Developments have moved from simple and quaint to high luxury paradises built to a US speci?cation. Merida is the main airport servicing major airlines across the USA and it is approx 45 minutes drive to the resort.Favourable exchange rates and the popularity of nearby Cancun as a holiday resort has also heralded the arrival of the Europeans. With 12 to 15 hours traveling time it is far from a weekend break but it is a fantastic retirement, investment or Holiday destination with a very active rental market. Development Details The resort covers some 2,200 acres of which 840 acres have been set aside for a private nature reserve. It will be a self-contained community, the size of a small town with the feeling of a village. The living accommodation will be spaced around the 27 holes of golf and will be complemented by a village square, shops, medical facilities, church, guest lodge and a host of other leisure and recreational facilities. The resort has its own exclusive beach club a short drive away with access onto the golden sandy beach of the Gulf of Mexico.
