It is solidly built on stone foundations, and despite being near the road (really a little used track) is entirely private and peaceful. The ground also includes a small piece of land on the other side of the track that has a block built garage and wooded area. While it is peaceful it is not remote: there are a few other houses nearby and a small local community. It is a ten minute walk down to the local village, Alferce where basic commodities are available- cafes, simple shops, bars, church, sports centre etc. - and a ten km drive into the picturesque mountain town of Monchique. The scenery around the house, the wooded mountains with abundance of wildlife, green terraces and olive and fruit trees, make for a most delightful setting. The coast is about a 25 km drive- the nearest coastal town is Portimao with the beach resorts of Praia de Rocha. For more unspoiled beaches there's a road to the stunning west coast - about 30km to Aljezur.
