Traditional 19th century house in Bollullos Huelva
Features
The property has been in the same family for five generations, a family which did much for the town of Bollullos par del Condado. Especially important was Francisoco Pérez Vaca, one of the first owners of the house, who acquired two typical andalusian large estates and redistributed them among families with little resources, changing dramatically the life and economy of the town. He has a statue alongside the road that goes through the village, his picture on a wall in the main square and several streets in the town, including the one where the house is located, bear another family member’s name, Pedro Miguel Pérez de Ayala.
Bollullos par del Condado, who history is cited on various websites, is the centre and head of one of the most important wine-producing regions in Spain, which continues to grow economically.
This two-storey traditional Andalusian house is located in the town of Bollullos par del Condado on the well-known Camino del Rocio. This is where Spain’s most famous ‘Romeria’ procession to the Virgin takes place every spring, accompanied by the glitterati of Andalusian society. The property dates from 1890, when the ground floor was completed. The noteworthy decorated antique tiles and the façade with nine iron-worked balconies, are also from this date.
The second storey was added in 1950, replacing the wooden beams with industrial beams from that era, to strengthen the building and make it more durable.
Each floor has bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, reception rooms and are all generously-sized.
Originally the vendor’s parents lived upstairs and grandparents below. In recent years the vendor’s parents lived downstairs in summer, where it’s cooler, and upstairs in winter, which is more enclosed and easier to heat.
The property is built around a traditional Andalusian central ‘patio’ (courtyard) surrounded by a wide covered corridor. There is a further large patio with its own well, a garage, large store-rooms, smaller patios and further areas which could be employed for various uses.
Apart from the two floors of living space in the house, there is a large terrace with spectacular views.
The house is very light, with all the bedrooms outward-facing. It could be easily split into two homes and a swimming pool and new out-buildings could be added.
Bollullos par del Condado is 45km from Seville by dual carriageway, 40km from Huelva and the beach of Matalascañas, and only 18 km from el Coto de Doñana, the oldest and most popular spanish National Park.
