Castañeda, Cantabria

One of the rooms on the ground floor is called El Cuarto del Peregrino, the pilgrim’s quarters, because it was used to give shelter to pilgrims and the poverty-striken who passed through Castañeda.

It is a typical large Baroque-style country house on two floors with a loft, built of ashlar stone with coats of arms under the eaves, displaying the lineage they had in times gone by.
