The Area
Isle sur la Sorgue is a wonderful small Provencal city in the heart of Vaucluse, 25km south of Avignon. The old town of Isle sur la Sorgue is also the home of France's second major antiques fair. The town quite rightly deserves its reputation as the Venice of Provence, sitting as it does over dozens of springs, streams and tributaries of the River Sorgue. Wherever you go, water's not far away, in fact most of the old town was built on wooden and stone stilts right above the river.
The town started life as a fishing village, supplying crayfish to the papal city of Avignon. Fishing brought prosperity and the town grew as a result. When the crayfish died out, it didn't take long for many other industries like cloth (silk and wool) and flour to take its place. The town is now a mecca for antique lovers, and home to countless antique dealers and shops, plus a market that's been taking place for 30 years. This is truly one of the most beautiful places in France and property rarely comes up for sale, let alone of such high standing and style.

A few minutes from the town centre this quiet domaine is protected by large walled gardens dotted with cypress trees and olive trees. There are 73 village house set in 7 renovated ?Bastides? ranging from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms which flank the quiet pedestrian pathways amongst this exclusive Resort & Spa development.
Each house comes with its own patios, and small landscaped gardens, and only the most natural top of the range building materials have been used in order to re-create the perfect Provencal village houses.
