A number of excellent traditional taverns serving local dishes can be found in walking distance from the house. Bank, post office, tel. boxes, medical centre and supermarkets are also in walking distance. Near Kalavasos you can also visit the ancient ruins of a Neolithic village call Tenta; at the north part of the village there is an old cooper mine. Just 3 km from the village there is a dam where many visitors enjoy fishing.
